About the photographer: THEO STAMATOPOULOS
Theo first became interested in photography when he received a camera at the age of 16. Throughout the years he has studied and trained to increase technical knowledge of photography, but always maintained a sense of casualness to capture people being themselves, living their lives, telling their stories.
I was honoured to be invited to photograph the volunteers and corporate services staff at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Many of these people work behind the scenes of the medical services received by so many children each year and don’t always get the recognition that they deserve. From the lively volunteers that work in the gift shop and stall to the kitchen staff and cleaners, it was great to see everyone contributing their time and energy to help make the Hospital the very special place it is.
